I Believe that we should have neighborhoods where our children and community members can play outside safely. Ensuring that we are all safe in our district means that we must address the root causes of violence.

Therefore Lilian will:

• Invest in our young people through after-school programs and living wage jobs to help bring peace to our streets.
• Support funding mental health resources and reopening closed public mental health clinics. With over 40% of Chicago’s budget going to policing, we need a system where a social worker comes when someone calls 9-1-1 for a mental health emergency, not armed police.
• Support increased funding for community-based anti-violence work in our district through a restorative justice lens.
